Math Headstart: Prepare Ahead for Next Year
Prepare ahead. Teacher Elaine prepares your child for some of the new concepts, problem-solving techniques and higher-order thinking expected at the next level.
Three lessons from Monday to Wednesday for Primary 4, 5 and 6 (in 2027), at our Bukit Timah studio or online.

Math Headstart is MathArchery’s December holiday programme in Bukit Timah, Singapore, for Primary 4, 5 and 6 (in 2027). Teacher Elaine prepares your child for some of the new concepts, problem-solving techniques and higher-order thinking expected at the next level, in three lessons from Monday to Wednesday. Each level has its own runs between 30 November and 16 December 2026, at our Bukit Timah studio or online.
Why start before January?
Each new level brings new concepts. In Primary 4 your child meets harder fractions and decimals, in Primary 5 fractions with remainders and percentage, and in Primary 6 average, ratio, circles and algebra.
Topics move fast in school. A child who has already met an idea once can follow the lesson more easily, and has room to ask questions in class.
Sometimes it just takes something to click in a child’s mind. December gives your child the time for that.
A first lesson · Primary 6, ratio
“Ali and Ben share 35 stickers in the ratio 2 : 3. How many stickers does each boy get?”
Draw 2 units for Ali and 3 units for Ben. The 5 units are 35 stickers, so 1 unit is 7 stickers. Ali gets 14 stickers and Ben gets 21.
Draw first, then calculate. When the picture makes sense, the method is easy to remember.

How Math Headstart works
Choose one run. Same content in every run of a level.
WhatsApp us. Tell us your child’s level in 2027 and your preferred run, and we confirm the place and how to pay.
Three lessons in a row. Monday to Wednesday, with each lesson building on the one before.
Basic concept, then application techniques. We start with model drawing. Then your child tries questions on their own, with Teacher Elaine there to help.
Does this sound like your child?
“She did well this year, and I want to keep it going.”
We give her harder questions on next year’s topics, including non-routine ones that make her think.
“He needs more time with new topics.”
He meets the topics before school teaches them. In a small group, he has time to ask questions until each idea makes sense.
“Everyone says Primary 5 is a big jump.”
We introduce fractions with remainders and percentage with model drawing, so these topics are not new to your child in January.
“PSLE is next year.”
P6 Headstart: Average, Ratio, Circles and Algebra, with curated questions from the past PSLE Ten-Year Series and school papers.
“This year’s paper showed some gaps.”
Start with Math Recovery in November. Close this year’s gaps first, because next year’s topics build on them. Headstart can follow after that.

Choose the level your child moves up to. A child in Primary 4 now joins P5 Headstart.
Which run should we choose?
Every run of a level covers the same content. Choose the dates and time that suit your family best.
Can my child miss a day?
The three lessons build on each other, so come for all three. If one day is a problem, WhatsApp us before you book.
Is Headstart only for strong students?
No. Top performers get harder questions on the new topics. Children who need more time meet the topics early, in a small group where they can ask.
Can my child join online?
Yes. Each lesson can be at our Bukit Timah studio or online, and you tell us your choice for each day when you book.
Can my child join if they are not a MathArchery student?
Yes. Any child going into Primary 4, 5 or 6 in 2027 is welcome.
What if this year’s paper showed gaps?
Start with Math Recovery in November. This year’s weak topics come first, because next year’s topics build on them. See Math Recovery
What happens after December?
Your choice. Many children join our weekly Primary 4, 5 or 6 classes when school starts.
